This logo represents Aotearoa Reorua. It acknowledges the different backgrounds we have as New Zealanders as it depicts the ways we greet each other through both the hongi and the more universal greeting of the handshake. The hongi traces back to the Māori story about the creation of mankind when Tāne Mahuta breathed life into the first woman, Hineahuone. The bottom half of the logo also symbolises the mouth with two koru that merge into one tongue reminding us of our two, official, spoken languages; te reo Māori and English.
E aratakina ana a Aotearoa Reorua e te Tari Taiwhenua, e tautokona ana hoki e Te Puni Kōkiri, e Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori, me Te Mātāwai.
Aotearoa Reorua is led by the Department of Internal Affairs with support from Te Puni Kōkiri, Te Taura Whiri i te reo Māori and Te Mātāwai.
